What do you need to roll a joint?
- Rolling tray (optional)
- Grinder
- Cannabis Flower
- Rolling Papers
- Filter/crutch (optional)
So let’s get started with the steps on how to roll a joint.
Step 1: Grind the flower
Grinding up the cannabis into tiny bits is the first step in producing a weed joint. We advise ground-up cannabis for the perfect joint. Some folks shatter the cannabis with their fingers or rub it in between their palm and fingers. However, this isn’t the correct method. To get evenly fragmented cannabis, we recommend grinding it in a grinder. This is because the paper used to make the cannabis joint is very light and burns quickly.
Step 2: Make a filter
The filter is critical to improving your smoking experience. Often known as the crutch, it stabilizes the joint by keeping its form. You can use a pre-made filter or create a custom one based on your needs.
To construct your own filter, you can use any type of thick paper, such as a thick magazine cover or cardstock. Some rolling paper bundles include filter papers for use. Tear a thick sheet of paper to approximately 3/4″ by 2 1/2.” Make a few accordion folds on the one end of the paper, then coil the rest of the paper around the folds to form a short tube.
Step 3: Prepare your paper
Take a sheet of the rolling paper out of your pack. Then, in your dominant hand, hold it gently between your thumb and middle finger, with the glue strip facing you. If you’re using a filter, position it in the crease of the paper and secure it with your index finger.
Step 4: Fill it up
Put the desired amount of weed inside the remaining paper fold with your other hand, and keep the cannabis from sticking tightly together by avoiding pressing down on it. When the joint paper is full, place both hands over it and squeeze the folded paper between your forefingers and thumbs. As you move the paper back and forth in between your fingers, gently press the cannabis into a cone or tube shape.
Step 5: Fold and roll
It’s time to start rolling your joint once the components have come together. Wrap the front (unglued) end of the rolling paper around the core of the joint by bringing it up and over the compressed cannabis. Use your thumbs to keep rolling upward until just the glue strip is revealed after the front end of the paper is snug around the core of the joint.
Step 6: Seal
Use your tongue to immediately moisten the adhesive, or lick your finger’s tip and dab it along the glue strip. Form a complete seal by bonding the adhesive strip firmly to the joint’s exterior wall. Lightly tap the joint on the tray from the filter or mouthpiece side to compact the cannabis slightly. Use a pen or another narrow object to further compact the marijuana if the joint feels too loose. Twist the leftover rolling paper to create a little point on the joint’s open side.
The last step after learning how to roll a joint is to spark it up and have fun.
There you have it! This is how to roll a joint. The ability to roll one is among the useful skills to have in your smoker’s toolkit. Good luck, and enjoy rolling!
